Original Music People

Amongst the creative people of 80's and 90's Shoreditch were some of the most notable DJs, musicians, producers and promoters to work in Britain in the last 30 years. Here, along with links to a few of the tunes are the musical Shoreditch Originals.

Original Music Places

Our new Shoreditch Originals Music feature comes in two parts with this, part one, focused on the places the parties rocked. One-time Blitz kid, now music producer and Shoreditch face Ian Tregoning filled us in on the role Shoreditch played in the massive acid house and post punk scenes that boomed and thumped here, changing the face of London nightlife for good.

Jean-Baptiste Thiebaut of Music Hackspace

A charming Frenchman in buzzing Hackney, Jean-Baptiste Thiebaut, know to most as JB, has been here in London for over a decade. First gaining his doctorate at Queen Mary and since has been realising his vision to establish Music Hackspace as the place in east London to "share thoughts, knowledge, technologies, processes and aesthetics on music and audio". Based at ContainerVille, JB was the winner of a year's lease having entered our short film competition.
